Here’s the current status of the Yeshwantpur–Channasandra railway line doubling project, based on the latest information available:

📍 Project Overview

  • The doubling and electrification between Yeshwanthpur Junction and Channasandra (about 21.7 km) was officially sanctioned in November 2025, at an estimated cost of ₹314 crore (or ₹330 crore in official references)
  • Execution has been entrusted to K‑RIDE, a joint venture between the Government of Karnataka and the Ministry of Railways, since September 2025

🚧 Progress & Delays

  • Only ~25% of the work is complete, as of April 2025
  • The delay has been attributed to slow progress, leading to K‑RIDE terminating its contractor due to unsatisfactory performance

📅 Revised Timeline

  • Initial expectations set completion within 2–3 years from September 2025, i.e., by late 2025 or early 2025
  • However, South Western Railway projections (as of April 2025) now indicate full completion is expected by December 2027, due to the setbacks and slow pace of work

🔎 Summary Table

🧩 Community Feedback

Local forums and rail enthusiasts have noted that challenges such as land acquisition in densely populated areas, complex utility shifting, and contractor performance issues continue to hamper progress

✅ Key Takeaways

  • The project is significantly behind schedule, now targeting December 2027 completion.
  • Progress remains slow, with only one-fourth of the work completed by early 2025.
  • Restart of on-ground construction is expected after resolution of past contractor issues and renewed tender processes.

If you’re interested in updates on associated work—like the longer Yeshwantpur–Baiyappanahalli suburban corridor doubling—or details on the Byappanahalli–Chikkabanavara stretch, I’d be happy to dig into those too.
