Here’s the confirmed info on the upgraded version of the HYLITES app, used for live train running information in Hyderabad and Secunderabad, which is now in operation:

🚉 What Is HYLITES?

  • HYLITES (Hyderabad Live Train Enquiry System) is a mobile app developed by South Central Railway (SCR) to provide real-time running status of trains in Hyderabad city and surrounding MMTS routes, including MMTS and express/passenger services at Hyderabad, Secunderabad, and Kacheguda stations.

🆕 Upgraded Version: What’s New?

  • SCR released the first major upgrade (version 1.1) around March 2025, based on direct user feedback. Key enhancements included:
    • Support for smaller smartphone screen resolutions (e.g. 240×320)
    • Availability in Hindi and Telugu, in addition to English, across menu items like live status, routes, timetables, and station mapping (which previously only supported English).
  • The app’s live status now includes:
    • 121 MMTS trains across 26 stations in real time
    • Platform-wise expected arrival/departure of express and passenger trains at the three major city terminals
    • Multilingual interface in English, Hindi, and Telugu to improve accessibility

📱 App Features Overview

  • Live MMTS Status: Select origin and destination from 26 MMTS stations to see in‑moment expected arrival for trains en route.
  • Live Express/Passenger Status: Current status at Hyderabad, Secunderabad, and Kacheguda terminals, showing platform and schedule details.
  • Multilingual Display: English, Hindi, and Telugu support across major features.
  • Timetable & Route Map: Comprehensive schedules, fare info, station mapping, ATVM locators, nearest station finder, helpline directory, and more. All integrated in-app for Hyderabad’s city rail network.

📅 Timeline at a Glance

Version Release Time Key Highlights
Version 1.0 Pre‑2025 English-only live train enquiry
Version 1.1 March 2025 Multilingual UI, resolution support
Version 2.6 April–May 2025

✅ Why the Upgrade Was Significant

  • User-Centric Improvements: SCR’s direct response to commuter feedback made the app usable on low-end phones and accessible in local languages.
  • Localized Live Enquiry: Real-time tracking specific to Hyderabad’s urban rail network (MMTS), unlike national-level enquiry apps.
  • Integrated Local Infoservice: Beyond train status, it bundles route maps, fare charts, ATVM info, nearest station locator, and emergency contacts.

⚠️ Current Status and Limitations

  • As of mid-2025, the app is not listed on Google Play, and its last public version was 2.6 (circa April–May 2025).
  • Despite these upgrades, some users have noted data delays or glitches in real-time tracking—likely due to network or backend issues.

🎯 Final Thoughts

  • The enhanced HYLITES app, introduced by SCR in 2025, offered a fully bilingual, user-focused interface tailored to Hyderabad’s urban rail commuters.
  • With support for live train status for MMTS and express services, resolution adaptability, and value-added localized tools, it represents SCR’s early efforts at digital inclusivity.
  • Though recent updates are sparse and official availability seems limited, HYLITES continues to stand as a niche, yet meaningful service for city rail users.
