Indian Railways offers generous concessions to cancer patients and one accompanying escort for travel to and from cancer hospitals across India.

✅ Applicable on Mail/Express trains, not applicable for Rajdhani/Shatabdi/Duronto unless specified.
🚫 No concession in Tatkal or Premium Tatkal quotas.


📌 Key Conditions

  1. Purpose of Travel: Must be for treatment at a recognized cancer hospital.
  2. Concession is allowed for round trip: From residence to hospital and back.
  3. Separate certificate required for each journey.
  4. Escort eligibility is subject to patient’s medical condition and must be certified.

📃 Required Documents

  1. Concession Certificate from the recognised cancer hospital, signed & stamped.
  2. Photo ID of the patient and escort.
  3. Proof of residence.
  4. Previous medical records (if asked) to verify repeated travel.

  • Valid for one journey only.

  • Private or unrecognized hospitals (unless approved by Railways)
