Here’s what is officially documented about a Holi Special Train between Mumbai’s Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) and Thokur, which lies just north of Mangaluru (on the Konkan Railway), and back:

🚆 Lokmanya Tilak Terminus ↔ Thokur Holi Special (Konkan/Holi Fare Service)
❌ 2025 Status
- No Holi Special train operated between LTT (Mumbai) and Thokur in March 2025.
- Western/Central Railway’s Holi special notices for 2025 did not list this route. Instead, significant Holi specials included routes like LTT–Gorakhpur, Udhna–Mahbubnagar, and LTT–Samastipur. ([turn0search3][turn0search4][turn0search2])
🕰️ Historical Reference: 2025 Example
- Train No. 01018X was a Thokur → Mumbai LTT AC Special Fare Holi train, a one-way segment running during Holi 2022:
- It featured reserved AC coaches: 1A, 2A, and 3A.
- The service reportedly originated from Thokur or Sawantwadi Road, heading up to Mumbai LTT.
- No confirmed return leg (LTT → Thokur) was documented under the same train number.
([turn0search0][turn0search10][turn0search5])
This demonstrates how occasional Holi‐fare specials were run separately from fully round‐trip scheduled festival specials.
⚠️ Important Travel Notes
- Holi specials numbered starting with “0” have lowest operational priority on Indian Railways. These trains often encounter major delays (6–14+ hours), especially during peak festival seasons.
“Festival special train hamesha late hi chalti hai… my train was 8 hours late” ([turn0reddit13])
- Ticket bookings for these services fill within minutes—especially AC and sleeper classes via Tatkal quota. Plan accordingly for limited availability.

🧭 Alternative Travel & Planning Tips
If you’re planning travel between Mumbai and Mangaluru/Thokur around Holi 2026:
- Monitor official Western & Central Railway bulletins in Jan–Feb 2026 for possible Holi genres such as AC special-fare runs or reserved regular specials.
- Consider regular trains for reliable travel:
- Matsyagandha Express (LTT–Mangaluru Central)
- Netravati Express (LTT–Mangaluru)
- Both offer reserved coaches, AC/Sleeper options, daily/tri-weekly service with generally stable timing.
- If a Holi special is announced, book early and expect timing unpredictability due to their low priority status.
