Here’s the official guidance issued by the Railway Board for symptomatic travellers in special train services, as applicable from 1 June 2025 (based on original protocols introduced in 2020):

🧑‍⚕️ Guidelines for Symptomatic Travellers

1. Mandatory Screening Before Boarding

  • Every passenger will undergo thermal screening at station entry.
  • Only asymptomatic individuals are allowed to board—anyone showing COVID-related symptoms (e.g. high fever, cough) will be denied boarding, even if their ticket is confirmed.

2. Full Fare Refund for Disallowed Travellers

  • If a passenger is disallowed due to symptoms, full refund of fare is provided automatically, with no deduction or cancellation charge.
  • For group or family bookings, if any member is symptomatic:
    • If all decline to travel → full refund for everyone.
    • If others still wish to travel → only the affected passenger receives a full refund.

3. Certificate Issuance by Train Staff

  • The TTE or station staff will issue an official certificate confirming the passenger could not travel due to symptoms.
  • This certificate is required for the refund process and must mention the number of affected travellers.

✅ Summary Table

Scenario Action Required Refund Eligibility
