🌐 Other Internship/Training Routes
- Zonal Workshops / Production Units (General Summer Internship)
Many zonal railways and production units offer shorter unpaid internships each summer. You’ll need to submit a CV and a letter of intent, along with a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your institute. Final approval is handled by the zone’s Principal Personnel Officer (CPO) - RITES Ltd. Internship Program
A separate option via RITES Limited (the railways’ engineering consultancy arm). Open to civil, mechanical, electrical, transport engineering students and final‑year UG/PGs.- Duration: 4–12 weeks
- Mostly unpaid, but offers valuable exposure to large-scale infrastructure and transport projects
- Apply via placement cell or direct email with resume + college NOC
🧾 Insider Tips from Past Interns
“Interning at ICF cost money for 15 days: ₹5,900 (including GST)… must know someone in the Railway for entry approvals.” — Reddit commentary from an intern at ICF, Pune
- Many internal internships (e.g., at workshops or training centers) require college NOC and a reference or contact from within Railways.
- Some internal training programs may charge fees (as noted at ICF)—and offer limited technical engagement.
🧩 Other Training & Internship Institutes
- Centralised Training Institutes (CTIs) across Indian Railways offer short courses—for example:
- IRICEN (Civil, Pune)
- IRIMEE (Mechanical/Electrical, Jamalpur)
- S&T training center at Secunderabad
These are primarily for in-service officers—but they may occasionally accept external trainees via institution or official request
- Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (formerly NRTI) in Vadodara/focuses on rail and logistics training, and regularly incorporates internships or project attachments for its B.Tech/MBA students
