🔍 What to Expect in Future

  • The Thaipoosam festival falls in late January / early February, sometimes late December.
  • Southern Railway typically issues a temporary stoppage notice a few weeks in advance.
  • Based on past schedules, the Dec 2025–Jan 2026 window would likely see similar stoppages—but the exact dates and impacted trains will be shared via official Southern Railway press releases.

📌 Suggestions for Travelers

  • If your travel falls during Thaipoosam season, especially between mid‑December to mid‑January, expect possible two-minute halts at Melmaruvathur on select express trains.
  • Check official sources like Southern Railway social media (X/Twitter) or IRCTC notifications 2–3 weeks prior to travel for updated train-specific lists.
  • This applies only for Melmaruvathur pilgrims, not general stoppages affecting through passengers significantly.
