  • Aimed at making MMTS more affordable and accessible to suburban commuters in Hyderabad.
  • Though implemented in 2025, the fare structure remains active in 2025.

💬 User Feedback

According to recent passenger discussions:

“If we are not in a hurry… MMTS is still useful … it’s the cheapest mode of transport.”
“Delays are the biggest reason… they are delayed, we need to voice our opinion louder.”

Despite fare cuts, ridership has declined—many commuters prefer Hyderabad Metro due to better frequency and connectivity.

⚠️ Note

  • This reduction applies only to first-class single‑journey tickets; second-class/general fares remain unchanged.
  • It does not apply to other suburban networks such as Mumbai or Chennai.
  • While passenger fares were officially slashed, some discussions suggest this may have been coupled with reclassification of train types, affecting the overall impact.

🌟 In brief: Hyderabad’s MMTS first-class fares are now up to 50% cheaper, effective from May 2025—offering better value for short-distance suburban travel in the twin city region.
