🚫 No A‑La‑Carte Meals on Mail/Express
- Only predefined standard meal items and snack meals are allowed.
- A‑la‑carte snacks (samosa, pakoda) may still be offered.
⚠️ Passenger Awareness & Overcharging Reports
- Many travellers report being charged ₹120–₹180 instead of the ₹80 standard rate for Veg Meals, labeled as “special thali” with paneer added.
- This is considered overcharging if standard meal was ordered.
“Veg meal costs INR 80… if you don’t specify STANDARD VEG MEAL … they sell special thali for ₹150+.”
- Tip: Always mention “Standard Veg/Non-Veg Meal” explicitly to avoid inflated pricing.
- You have the right to ask for an official bill and lodge complaints via Rail Madad / helpline 139 for overcharges.
