Here’s a look at the key railway projects coming up in Haryana in 2025:

🚆 Major New Railway Projects in Haryana

1. Karnal–Yamunanagar New Line (64 km)

  • The Ministry of Railways has sanctioned the final location survey for a new 64 km railway line between Karnal and Yamunanagar in Haryana, at an estimated cost of ₹11.73 billion (~₹1,173 crore)

2. Delhi–Sohna–Nuh–Firozpur Jhirka–Alwar New Line (104 km)

  • A new 104 km line connecting Delhi with Alwar (Rajasthan) via Sohna, Nuh, and Firozpur Jhirka was approved in the 2025‑26 rail budget (₹2,500 cr). Construction has commenced, with 17 new stations planned along the route

3. Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor (HORC)

  • A 122 km double-track corridor connecting Palwal to Sonipat via Sohna, Manesar, and Kharkhoda is underway. It includes 17 stations and is intended for both passenger and freight traffic. Potential linkage with the Delhi–Alwar line is anticipated near Sohna
  • An Eastern extension (90 km) along the Eastern Peripheral Expressway through Sonipat to Faridabad has completed its feasibility study (DPR done in Feb 2025)

4. Other New Lines & Doubling of Existing Corridors

Included in FY 2025‑26 funding:

  • Yamunanagar ↔ Chandigarh (~91 km),
  • Mohali ↔ Rajpura (~24 km),
  • Delhi ↔ Karnal via Panipat and Sonipat (Namo Bharat Corridor) — designed to cut travel time between Delhi and Karnal to ~90 minutes via seven planned stations in Delhi
  • Additional proposed lines: Kaithal–Karnal–Meerut, Hisar–Sirsa, Manheru–Bawani Khera, Rewari–Khatuwas, Panipat–Rohtak, and Bhiwani–Dabwali, many of which are already under construction or in survey stages
  • Doubling works are ongoing on several lines including Rohtak–Panipat (₹714 cr), Narnaul–Khatuwas, Asthal Bohar–Rewari, Firozpur–Bathinda–Jakhal–Hisar, and more

5. Maruti‑Manesar Multi‑Modal Cargo Terminal

  • The Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor now includes a direct rail siding into the Maruti Suzuki plant in Manesar. A multi-modal cargo facility with a 6.9 km rail link to the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFCC) was inaugurated in June 2025. It can handle 4.5 lakh vehicles per year, reducing road congestion and CO₂ emissions by ~175,000 tons annually

Other new/ doubling lines Various (Hisar–Sirsa, Rewari–Khatuwas, etc.) Multiple routes Ongoing/doubling works with allocated budget

📈 Context & Impact

  • The 2025‑26 rail budget allocated ₹3,416 cr to Haryana, backing 14 new railway lines covering ~1,195 km at a projected cost of ₹15,875 cr
  • These projects are poised to massively boost passenger connectivity, freight logistics, economic growth, and decongestion across road networks, particularly in rapidly growing districts like Nuh, Manesar, and Panipat.
  • The integration of RRTS corridors (RapidX), the Namo Bharat high‑speed corridor, and regional lines reflects a coordinated strategy to modernize rail transit across Haryana within the NCR framework.

  • Haryana in 2025 is witnessing a surge of small and large-scale railway infrastructure development.
  • Key highlights: Karnal–Yamunanagar line, Delhi–Alwar via Nuh corridor, HORC and its eastern extension, regional intercity high-speed lines, major doubling of existing routes, and the Manesar cargo link.
