North Central Railway Special Trains Overview

NCR operated a record-breaking 150 special trains on January 14, 2025, to accommodate the massive influx of pilgrims during the Maha Kumbh at Prayagraj.
These included 101 trains from critical stations like Prayagraj, Naini, Chheoki, and Subedarganj.
The operation featured massive logistical coordination—street plays, cleanliness and bicycle rallies, and deployment of 1,000 sanitation staff at stations and 18,000 to clean coaches. Medical teams treated over 11,000 people during January 11–14.

During events like Chhath Puja and Diwali, NCR launched numerous festive specials—on one occasion running up to 33 special trains in a day.
Summer Specials: For instance, Train Nos. 04085/04086 between New Delhi and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra ran from March 28 to April 1, 2025, with four round trips each.

A notable addition is the Kanpur Central → NSCB Junction Gomoh Summer Special (Train No. 04153, return 04154). It began operation around April 10, 2025, with a journey time of approximately 10h 45m, covering 722 km with 18 coaches including AC and sleeper classes.
NCR is also preparing a regular train service between Kathgodam and Subedarganj, pending approval from the Railway Board.
