1. Mauni Amavasya Mela Specials — January 2025
To handle the influx of pilgrims during the Mauni Amavasya festival (Jan 27–31), NER operated a remarkable 184 “mela special” trains. These ran from stations such as Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Ayodhya, Chhapra, Azamgarh, Kathgodam, Gomti Nagar, and others toward Prayagraj Rambagh and Jhusi.
Extensive on-ground arrangements—ticket counters, mobile UTS, security, drones, and rapid-response teams—were deployed to enhance safety and crowd management.
2. Summer Special: Gorakhpur ↔ Bengaluru
To cater to summer travel demand, NER introduced a special train between Gorakhpur and Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal (Bengaluru):
