Wider Trend & Passenger Impact
- This conversion aligns with Indian Railways’ national strategy to upgrade long-distance passenger services (200 km+) to Express category, aiming for faster connectivity and optimized schedules.
- It’s important to note that Express designation often carries higher fares, which may impact daily commuters. Meanwhile, train number ranges also reflect the change—Express trains commonly use numbers starting with ‘1’ or ‘2’, whereas ordinary services have different numeric codes.
