(a) The details of Railway projects that are pending in Rajasthan;

(b) Whether the Government proposes to sanction any new projects in the State; and

(c) If so, the details thereof?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (C) OF UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 275 BY SHRI ARJUN LAL MEENA TO BE ANSWERED IN LOK SABHA ON 03.02.2025 REGARDING RAILWAY PROJECT IN RAJASTHAN

(a): Railway projects are sanctioned Zonal Railway-wise, not State-wise, as Indian Railways’ network spans across various State boundaries. However, as on 01.04.2025, 30 projects (11 new lines, 05 gauge conversion and 14 doubling) covering a total length of 5,173 km and costing Rs.57,247 crore, falling fully / partly in the State of Rajasthan are in different stages of Planning / Sanction / Execution.

Average Annual Budget allocation for infrastructure projects and safety works, falling fully / partly in the State of Rajasthan, during 2025-19 has increased to Rs.2,951 crore per year, from Rs.682 crore per year (during 2009-14). Thus, an increase of 333% over the average annual budget allocation of 2009-14 (Rs.682 crore per year).

Budget allotment for infrastructure projects and safety works, falling fully / partly in the State of Rajasthan for financial year 2019-20 was Rs.4686 crore, which is 587% more w.r.t. 2009-14. Budget allocation of Rs.4582 crore has been provided for Financial Year 2020-21, which is 572% more with respect to average Budget outlay for 2009-14.

During 2009-14, 798 Km length (61 Km New Line, 675 Km Gauge Conversion and 62 Km Doubling) falling fully / partly in the State of Rajasthan was commissioned at an average rate of 160 Km per year.

Here’s a comprehensive list of ongoing railway infrastructure projects in Rajasthan as of mid‑2025, covering new lines, doubling efforts, urban upgrades, and strategic facilities:


🚧 1. Doubling of Key Railway Lines

• Jaipur ↔ Sawai Madhopur

  • Distance: ~152.8 km
  • Project Cost: ₹1,268.6 crore
  • Completion Target: FY 2026–27
  • Includes station upgrades, improved speeds, and enhanced access to Ranthambore National Park and pilgrimage sites like Vanasthali

• Ajmer ↔ Chittorgarh

  • Length: ~178.2 km (212.8 km track)
  • Cost: ₹1,813 crore
  • Improves freight flow from cement and gypsum-rich Chittorgarh region

• Luni–Samdari–Bhildi (via Degana, Ratangarh)

  • Distance: ~128.8 km (154.4 km track)
  • Cost: ₹1,276.6 crore
  • Enhances western Rajasthan connectivity and freight mobility

🆕 2. New Railway Lines & Connectivity Expansion

• Rajasthan – 30 New Lines Plan

  • Covering ~1,500 km with a budget of ₹15,000 crore
  • Includes routes like Jodhpur–Pali–Marwar, Phulera–Ringas–Churu, Ajmer–Pushkar, Pilani–Loharu, Banswara corridor, and Barmer–Munabao etc.
  • Execution led by Rajasthan Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (RRIDCL), expected completion by 2028–29

• Taranga Hills → Ambaji → Abu Road Line

  • Connects Gujarat & Rajasthan over ~116.7 km with 15 stations
  • Budgeted at ₹2,798 crore; completing by 2026‑27
  • Supports religious tourism and offers alternative to congested Ahmedabad–Abu Road route

• Special Pilgrimage Line Proposals

  • Electrification and alignment upgrades across networks involving Pushkar, Sujangarh, Salasar, Khatushyamji etc.

⚙️ 3. High-Speed & Test Infrastructure

India’s First Broad-Gauge High-Speed Test Track

  • Built near Gudha–Nawan in Jodhpur division (~60 km)
  • Designed for testing trains up to 230 km/h, curves, loops, signaling study
  • Includes four test stations; expected completion by December 2025; ₹820 crore allocation

Vande Bharat Maintenance Depot – Jodhpur Division

  • Located at Bhagat Ki Kothi, first of its kind in India
  • To support Vande Bharat train operations and maintenance in Rajasthan

🏗️ 4. Station Redevelopment & Electrification

  • NWR Allocation: ₹9,714 crore for 2025–25, including ₹925 crore for doubling, ₹990 crore for electrification and ₹2,222 crore for passenger amenities
  • Station Redevelopment: 85 stations (e.g., Jaisalmer, Gandhinagar) under Amrit Bharat scheme, many to be completed by end‑2025
