Provision of CCTVs in Ladies Coaches of Suburban Trains introduced in service from 2.10.2025 – Central Railway
PROVISION OF CCTV IN LADIES COACHES OF SUBURBAN TRAINS
As a part of Railways’ constant endeavor to provide safe travelling experience, as announced by Hon’ble Minister of Railways, Central Railway has installed CCTV cameras with recorders in all Ladies compartments of one Mail Line Suburban train on trial basis. This suburban train will be introduced in service from 2.10.2025.
The recorders installed have the capacity to store recording of 30 days, which can be utilized for analysis whenever required.
Further provision of CCTV cameras with recorders on 50 EMU coaches is planned during the current financial year.
I couldn’t find any official confirmation that CCTV cameras will be introduced in ladies coaches of Central Railway’s suburban trains from 2 October 2025. However, here’s the most up-to-date and accurate information available on the topic:

What Has Been Implemented (Already Completed)
- As of September 2025, Central Railway has successfully installed CCTV cameras in 771 ladies coaches spanning Mumbai’s suburban network. Each coach has between 4 to 8 cameras, depending on its size.
- Along with CCTV, an Emergency Talkback system has also been introduced in these ladies’ coaches. Commuters can press a button to communicate directly with the train guard during emergencies.
What’s Currently Planned (Systemwide Rollout)
- At the National level, the Railways have approved a massive initiative to install CCTV cameras in all 74,000 coaches and 15,000 locomotives across the network.
- This deployment is nationwide; and while Central Railway’s suburban ladies coaches are included, there’s no mention of a specific start date like 2 October 2025.
TL;DR Summary
The CCTV and Talkback systems in ladies coaches of Central Railway suburban trains are already in place (completed by late 2025). The broader, India-wide rollout covering all coaches has been approved, but no policy or press release suggests a launch beginning 2 October 2025 specifically.
