Budget Allocation
- ₹844 crore has been earmarked for J&K’s railway projects in the 2025–26 Union Budget
 
Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL)
- The USBRL, a crucial 272 km project costing ₹41,159 crore, is nearing completion—bridging the Kashmir Valley with the rest of India
 - Testing for the Katra–Srinagar segment is completed; commercial operations will begin soon
 - Jammu Railway Division was inaugurated in January 2025, making this region the 70th division of Indian Railways
 
Major Engineering Milestones
