Here’s the updated fare structure for Shatabdi Express trains (and other premium services) for the 2025–24 period, reflecting the latest fare rationalisation effective July 1, 2025:

Fare Adjustment for Premium Trains (Including Shatabdi)

Mail/Express & Premium Classes

  • AC classes—such as AC Chair Car (CC), Executive, 3AC/3 Economy, and Anubhuti—have seen a fare increase of 2 paise per kilometre.
  • This applies broadly to all premium and express trains, including Shatabdi, Rajdhani, Duronto, Vande Bharat, Tejas, Amrit Bharat, and more.

Example Calculation

If your Shatabdi journey spans 500 km, the additional fare would be:

500 km × 0.02 ₹ = ₹10

—i.e., ₹10 extra compared to the fare before July 1.

Other Fare Changes (Across All Trains)

Category Fare Increase per km
Non‑AC (Mail/Express) +1 paisa/km
Non‑AC (Ordinary) +0.5 paisa/km (with slabs beyond 500 km)
AC Classes (All Premium) +2 paise/km
Suburban & Season Tickets No change
Ancillary Charges (GST, Reservation, Surcharge) No change

Dynamic Pricing & Discounts

  • Dynamic fares may still apply on Shatabdi trains—prices can vary based on demand, timing, or availability.
  • Discounts up to 25% may be offered on Shatabdi and Tejas routes under promotional schemes. However, these are conditional:
    • Applicable on base fare only.
    • Excludes ancillary charges like GST or reservation fees.
    • Redemption depends on occupancy levels and specific time frames.

Quick Summary

  • New Shatabdi Fare = Old fare + (Distance in km × ₹0.02)
  • No changes apply to non-AC fare slabs for short distances, nor to ancillary fees or suburban fares.
  • Promotions and dynamic pricing may still affect effective ticket cost.
