The primary direct service between these cities is via the well-known Sabari Express (Train Nos. 17229 / 17230):

  • Sabari Express
    • Runs daily between Hyderabad (typically Secunderabad) and Thiruvananthapuram via Ernakulam
    • Covers the Hyderabad–Ernakulam stretch (~1,555 km) in approximately 30 hours

    • Highly popular among devotees heading to Sabarimala and Kerala destinations

Other regular long-distance trains also operate on this corridor but typically require a change at Vijayawada or other major junctions.

✅ Travel Tips & Suggestions

  • The Sabari Express remains the most reliable direct option between Hyderabad and Ernakulam.
  • If travel date flexibility permits, book Sabari Express early (especially SL & AC tiers) via IRCTC or NTES.
  • To explore alternative connections, trains via Bangalore or Chennai may offer shorter breaks or frequency.
  • Stay tuned to South Central Railway (SCR) press releases for occasional one-off trains—such announcements are typically made 1–2 weeks before service start.
