⚠️ Traveler Advisory & Community Feedback

  • Low operational priority: These special trains often experience delays up to 8–12+ hours due to rake-sharing issues and track congestion.

“Special trains… delays of 10 hrs are very common.”

  • While fares are higher than regular services, onboard amenities are often basic and punctuality poor.

✅ Other Direct Trains on the Route

If your priority is reliability and comfort, consider these established high-priority alternatives:

  • Matsyagandha Express (12619/12620) — LTT (Mumbai) ↔ Mangaluru Central, daily, ~16 h 10 m journey, onboard catering and mix of AC, SL, general classes.
  • Santragachi–Mangaluru Vivek Express (22851/22852) — long-distance, weekly service with AC + SL coaches (no pantry), ~42 h run.

🧭 Key Recommendations

  • Use 09057/58 only if their operating days match your schedule and regular trains are fully booked.
  • Book early (IRCTC/PRS) and monitor NTES or IRCTC Live Running Status due to potential delays.
  • Pack food and water—there is no pantry car; station e-catering is available at major halts.
  • Avoid if travel time and punctuality are crucial—opt for Matsyagandha or other express trains instead.
