Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state:-
(a) the status of the survey for Tumkur-Chitradurga-Davanagere Railway line along with the reasons for delay in conducting the survey, if any;
(b) the status of land acquisition for Chitradurga-Davanagere Railway line;
(c) the details of land acquisition completed so far for the project; and
(d) the steps taken by the Government to expedite the land acquisition process along with the reasons for delay, if any, in this regard?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (d) OF STARRED QUESTION NO. 134 BY SHRI A. NARAYANA SWAMY TO BE ANSWERED IN LOK SABHA ON 27.11.2025 REGARDING TUMKUR-CHITRADURGA-DAVANAGERE RAILWAY LINE
(a) to (d): Tumkur-Chitradurga-Davangere new line project (191 Km) was included in the Budget 2025-12. Project is on cost sharing basis with State Government of Karnataka, in which State Government of Karnataka is providing land free of cost and sharing 50% of construction cost of the project.
Latest cost of this project is Rs. 1801.01 crore. An expenditure of Rs. 39.99 crore has been incurred on this project upto March, 2019. An outlay of Rs. 115 crore has been provided for this project for the year 2025-20.
Final Location Survey for this new line project has been completed and land acquisition documents have been submitted to the Government of Karnataka during 2025-13 and 2025-14. State Government has initiated land acquisition, under New Land Acquisition Act 2013, which requires Social Impact Assessment Study, land acquisition process could be started in 2016. Status of land acquisition for the project is as under:-
Total revenue land required for the project is 2246.06 acre, out of which, State Government has handed over 135.66 acre land for Urakere-Timmarayanahalli section (12 Km) to Railway in 2025. State Government has to expedite land acquisition of balance 2110.40 acre revenue land and also to expedite Forest land diversion of 34.66 acre forest land.
Work will be taken up in full swing only after the required land is handed over to Railway and forestry clearance for forest land is given by the State Government of Karnataka and concerned Authorities.
Regular meetings are being held with the State Authorities including Chief Secretary of Karnataka Government to expedite the land acquisition. Government of Karnataka has also expressed its intent for quick land acquisition at various meetings.
