ONE MORE STEP TOWARDS DIGITIZATION
In yet another move towards Digital India initiative, Indian Railways have rolled out “E-pass” which is the first module of Human Resource Management System (HRMS) and the same has been introduced over Western Railway with effect from 24th August, 2025 for serving employees.
According to a press release issued by Shri Sumit Thakur- Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, E-pass facility has being introduced over Western Railway which is the paperless version of Privilege Pass/ Privilige Ticket Order (PTO) issued to Railway employees and their families. The ground work for mapping of staff with pass issuing authority and pass entries has been completed by all Divisions/ Units of Western Railway. To avail this facility, the employees are required to download the HRMS App & login using the ID & Password created by the Railways. The e- pass generated can be downloaded and the employees can book the tickets online, as per their convenience. Till now, the railway employees did not have the facility of booking online.

In the initial phase, this e – pass facility is being extended for serving employees. The e pass facility has been introduced in Divisions as well as at Headquarters. The physical issuance of passes will be discontinued from 1st November, 2025. This new initiative will strengthen the ‘Digital India’ movement and facilitate in bringing transparency and efficiency.
